Showtime has just released the first trailer for their Claire Danes-starring psychological thriller “Homeland.” In her first return to primetime television since the grunge-era “My So-Called Life,” Danes plays a CIA officer who becomes convinced a recently rescued American POW (Damian Lewis) may be connected to an al-Qaida plot to be carried out on U.S. soil. In the video below, executive producer Howard Gordon (“24″) explains that the show is about “perceptions and how people watch people.” During a panel for the drama at Comic-Con Thursday, Gordon talked about the show’s exploration of the gray area between good and bad. “Who’s the hero? Who’s the traitor? Who’s the soldier? Who’s the terrorist?” he teased. “Homeland,” which also stars Mandy Patinkin and Morena Bacarin, premieres October 2 on Showtime.
