So you think you can judge? Nigel Lythgoe revealed Thursday night that Christina Applegate will sit at the “So You Think You Can Dance” judges table in two weeks, on August 3.
When asked what makes her a good judge, the executive producer/head judge replied, “Did you see ‘Sweet Charity?’”
True, Applegate – who is also starring in the new NBC sitcom “Up All Night” with Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph starting September 14 – played the title role as Charity Hope Valentine in the 2004 revival of the musical “Sweet Charity,” which landed her the 2005 Theatre World Award and a 2005 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.
Applegate is a fan of the show, having sat in the audience for the finale in 2009 and was brought to tears by Ade Obayomi and Melissa Sandvig’s moving performance of apiece about breast cancer. Applegate is a breast cancer survivor.
