Dick Wolf’s last-standing “Law & Order” spinoff is undergoing even more changes. Series costar B.D. Wong revealed Sunday that he’s leaving “Law & Order: SVU.”
“I actually do not return for season 13 of @nbcsvu #SVU!” Wong wrote on Twitter. “I am jumping to @nbcAwake #Awake! it’s awesome!”
Wong is leaving “SVU” to focus his energies solely on his new NBC show “Awake,” costarring Jason Isaacs and Cherry Jones. The series, in which he plays a psychiatrist, is slated for a midseason debut on NBC.
He added: “I don’t know if or when I’ll be back [on SVU]! It was amazing to have such a cool job for 11 years and to be a real NY Actor.” Wong has played Dr. George Huang on “SVU” since 2001.
His departure marks the latest change in the major overhaul facing the long-running procedural. Christopher Meloni won’t be back for Season 13 after deciding not to renew his contract, while two new detectives, played by Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino, join the force and two familiar faces return to the show in Stephanie March and Diane Neal.
