This is the hardest week to be eliminated from “So You Think You Can Dance” as it means you were just one good dance shy of being in the top 10, one good dance shy of making it on the tour, and one good dance shy of being teams with one of the amazing All-Stars.
At the close of Wednesday’s performance show – which was a night of ups and downs for many couples – who the bottom six might be was highly debated among backstage peeps and press, but one couple we all clearly thought would be in the bottom and that was Ryan and Ricky, who had been there twice before.
Did they end up in the bottom six as expected?
How about Jordan and Tadd again?
Was Sasha strong enough to help pull Alexander through after that iffy Paso Doble?
Here are the results…
The bottom six this week were: Ryan and Ricky, Sasha and Alexander, and Caitlynn and Mitchell
And, the unfortunate two going home were: Ryan and Alexander. Backstage after the show, Ryan was in tears and being consoled by guest judge and Emmy-nominated “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “He’s so nice,” Ryan told us moments after their emotional exchange. “He was just saying that i have a career ahead of me and that I was a good dancer and good things are coming. And, I know it’s not the end.”
As for Alexander, the timing of his departure is especially sad because he and partner Sasha finally caught their groove in Wednesday night’s performance. “I was glad I got my recognition last night. Every single week I was giving it my all. I wasn’t getting the recognition and it hurts. I think the timing was perfect. This is a great show and I’m glad it’s nominated for an Emmy. It’s just an awesome experience,” Alexander told us.
So, this means the top 10 are: Ricky, Sasha, Caitlynn, Mitchell, Melanie, Marko, Clarice, Jess, Jordan, and Tadd. They will be paired up with all-stars next week that include, season 1′s Melody Lacayanga, season 2′s Allison Holker, season 3′s Pasha Kovalev, Season 4′s Comfort, Chelsie Hightower (and “Dancing with the Stars” pro), and tWitch, season 5′s Brandon Bryant, season 6′s Kathryn McCormick, and season 7′s Robert Roldan. Each week, different all-stars will be paired with the finalists, and the finalists will be paired with each other at times as well.
Also on board for next week is Neil Patrick Harris as guest judge on July 20, while Lady Gaga is now confirmed for the following week on July 20, according to Nigel Lythgoe.
