“Pam will be pregnant when the season starts,” Fischer said of her character on the NBC comedy. Fischer announced in May that she is also pregnant in real life.
“Pam and Jim snuck away last season on Valentine’s Day, and they had sex. The story is that they conceived this baby at that time and were keeping it a secret until we come back from the summer,” Fischer explained.
“When we started shooting that episode, I thought to myself, ‘If everything goes well, this is going to be a very, very convenient coincidence,’” Fischer said. “And I think I found out I was pregnant when we were shooting that episode.”
Fischer married writer and actor Lee Kirk last year. Kirk had a bit part as Clark in the second part of the episode in which Pam had her first baby.
Fischer also confirmed that a replacement for Michael Scott (Steve Carell) has been selected, but of course she’s not saying who it is. NBC previously announced that James Spader (“Boston Legal”) will be joining the show as the new CEO of Sabre.
“The Office” was nominated for four Emmy Awards Thursday, including one for Outstanding Comedy and a Lead Actor nod for Carell.
