Emmy nominee Jesse Tyler Ferguson kept the funny lines coming when he guest judged on “So You Think You Can Dance” Wednesday night, from comparing Mary Murphy to an Osmond to jokingly hitting on a female contestant.
“I didn’t care for it,” said Ferguson after Clarice and Jess’s dance. “Happy opposite day! I loved it. Clarice, do you have a boyfriend? I do too, but I think we should get married. You make me so happy.”
But, a few other things were on the funnyman’s mind when we caught up with him post-show. Namely, what lies ahead for his character Mitchell Pritchett on the new season of “Modern Family.”
Backstage, the actor talked pills, babies, and fearing for his “genitalia area.” Here we go…
Best. Guest. Judge. Ever!
No, that’s not true. It’s not true. Okay, it’s true. No, it’s not.
How much fun was that for you?
It was sort of a dream come true. I don’t know how I got on that short list to be a judge for this but when it happened I had to peel myself off of the ceiling. I was so excited.
What can you tell us about the recasting of baby Lily on “Modern Family?”
No movement has been made on that part. And the girls that are playing Lily right now [Jaden and Ella Hiller], we’re still considering them very heavily. We love them. It basically boils down to they are at that age where a 3-year-old tells you what they want to do and what they don’t want to do. We want to make sure this is something that they enjoy doing.
“Modern Family” starts shooting Aug. 1. What is the location for the premiere?
I do know we’re going on location in Wyoming, I believe. It may or may not be a dude ranch. I know nothing about the story. I think it’s a family vacation.
Might you be on a horse then?
That would be terrifying because I’ve never ridden a horse before and that would not be good for my male genitalia area.
