It looks like the man who writes books – Richard Castle – is about to be saddled with a supervisor who believes in going by the book. TVLine.com is reporting that next season, Penny Johnson Jerald will be joining the ABC mystery series “Castle” as Capt. Victoria Gates, a former Internal Affairs officer whose nickname is “Iron Gates.” Which means she’ll most likely have a major problem with the freewheeling Castle (Nathan Fillion). The character is taking over for the recently departed Capt. Roy Montgomery (Ruben Santiago-Hudson), whose crooked ways came to light in the season finale and cost him his life. This won’t be the first time that Johnson Jerald has taken on the role of a woman you best not mess with. Nearly a decade after her run as the scheming Mrs. Palmer on “24,” she still stands out as one of TV’s best-ever villains.

Didn’t catch the shocking “Castle” finale, where Montgomery’s double-dealing was finally revealed? Well, watch this episode and prepare for “Iron Gates” to swing into the squad room this fall.
