With the stakes higher than ever, there is never a dull moment at Chicago’s County General. The Lincoln Lawyer

Matthew McConaughey stars in the legal thriller ‘The Lincoln Lawyer‘ as a low-rent defense attorney named Mickey Haller. Most of the time, Mickey barely keeps his head above water, representing low-life clients and working out of the back of his car. He thinks he’s landed the case of a lifetime when he’s hired to defend a rich playboy (Ryan Phillippe) who stands accused of rape and attempted murder, and eagerly accepts his new client and the massive payoff that’s sure to come with him. But Mickey soon discovers that he’s become ensnared in a twisted plot where no fee in the world is high enough to pay for the deadly workload, and his only hope of survival may just lay in his own skills as a long-practiced double-crosser. Damages

Inspired by recent worldwide economic events, the acclaimed third season of the award-winning legal drama ‘Damages,’ starring two-time Emmy winner Glenn Close as litigator Patty Hewes, is now available on DVD. Arthur

Rango

Doctor Who

[Rec] 2

Picking up just a few short minutes after the first film left off, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza’s adrenalized action horror sequel ‘[Rec] 2‘ follows a heavily armed SWAT team and a tight-lipped medical officer as they venture into the quarantined tenement building to uncover the origins of the bizarre outbreak. Their helmet-mounted cameras capturing every nerve-shredding moment of the mission, the team must fight for their lives when they’re beset by rampaging victims of the demonic virus. Now, with each new attack, the infection grows, and the horde gains power. Should the virus somehow manage to spread outside, the result would be a disaster of apocalyptic proportions. Battle Beyond the Stars

A long time ago, in a studio far far away (actually 1980 in Venice, Calif.), Roger Corman gathered together a fledgling team of filmmakers to make one of the best low-budget science fiction films of all time, ‘Battle Beyond the Stars,’ a space opera that managed to playfully borrow from Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven, to come up with an enduring cult classic. News & Notes

Take Me Home Tonight‘ comes out on DVD next Tuesday July 19th, and Fox Home Entertainment is hitting the road (literally) as they travel around with the Vans Warped Tour to create awareness and giveaways for the Anna Faris and Topher Grace starring release. Last week the tour stopped off in Southern California (Pomona and Ventura).

Smash summer movie ‘Thor,’ which has already garnered over $440 million at the global box office, will come to Blu-ray and DVD on September 13th as well as a spectacular high-definition Blu-ray 3D. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman star.
