Here’s another thing that stings about the set-up that allegedly nailed NBC’s own “gotcha” reporter Chris Hansen: The TV host may have lost his shot for a promotion at the network, according to the New York Post.
Hansen was reportedly in line to become a lead anchor of “Dateline NBC” after Ann Curry was elevated to “Today” show co-host, but NBC allegedly ditched those plans following Hansen’s cheating scandal that emerged last week.
‘To Catch a Predator’ Host Allegedly Caught Cheating on His Wife
Hansen, who hosts the hidden-camera series “To Catch a Predator,” is facing allegations that he was caught having an extramarital affair with Florida TV reporter Kristyn Caddell. It has also been reported that he sent the young woman explicit photos of himself.
According to The Post’s insider: “Hansen was to be announced as a lead anchor now that Ann Curry has the job on ‘Today.’ While NBC is publicly playing down the scandal, it’s thrown their plans into disarray. Kate Snow may now have to get the job, but she’s been on the show only a year.”
For now, NBC is downplaying the scandal, and any “Dateline: switcheroo plans, telling the Post simply: “This couldn’t be further from the truth. Ann Curry is the anchor of ‘Dateline.’”
