Noah Wyle’s survivor beard will live on! TNT’s alien apocalyptic thriller “Falling Skies” has been renewed for a 10-episode second season.

The news should come as no surprise. The Steven Spielberg-produced drama’s June 19 premiere was cable TV’s highest-rated debut of the year, scoring 8 million viewers (according to Nielsen’s  Live + 7 ratings).

Season 2 is scheduled to air some time in summer 2012.
