Chelsea Handler’s new comedy experienced some fireworks of its own over the weekend. According to TVLine.com, Handler’s upcoming NBC series based on her best-selling tongue-in-cheek memoir, “Are You There Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea,” is being drastically reworked. Series stars Natalie Morales (“White Collar”), Angel Laketa Moore (“ER”) and Jo Koy (“Chelsea Lately”) have all been let go for what a spokesperson for the series cites as “creative reasons.”
The axed trio’s characters – Handler’s best friend (Morales) and her sports bar co-workers (Moore, Koy) – are currently being reconceived.
Handler will serve as executive producer and co-star of the midseason comedy. Laura Prepon (“That 70s Show”) is still on board to play Chelsea, while Handler will take on the role of her own sister.
