ABC has announced that the final episode of “All My Children” will air Friday, September 23rd. The show’s cancellation was announced April 14th. According to ABC’s press release, “The iconic series will end in a manner that respects the show’s legacy and honors its history…Final episodes will celebrate the stories of the families that fans have grown to know and love over the years. “ Daytime Confidential reports that the final episode may be two hours long.
Though details of how the 41 year-old soap will end have yet to be revealed, the show seems to be aiming to for a happy ending. Numerous former cast members are making return appearances including Josh Duhamel, Thorsten Kaye, Eva LaRue, Leven Rambin, and Carol Burnett.
ABC simultaneously issued a press release announcing that AMC’s replacement, the food-themed talk show “The Chew” will debut Monday, September 26th, claiming that “The Chew“ “expands the focus of the lineup to include more programming that is informational and authentic and centered on transformation, food and lifestyle – cornerstones of programming that resonate with daytime viewers and their viewing patterns.” AMC fans will probably find the launch of the new show, which is already being promoted on ABC during its daytime programming, a bitter pill to swallow.
