“Top Chef Masters” has crowned a champion.
Although he struggled throughout the beginning of the competition, Floyd Cardoz was named the winner on Wednesday’s third season finale.
The last challenge tasked the final three master chef’testants with preparing a three-course feast. The victor was chosen based on who had the highest quality food for each course.
Cardoz’s winning creations? Upma, a pudding-like polenta, rice-crusted snapper and an original take on Malaysian beef stew.
The New York-based chef – who was clearly stunned by the news – took home $100,000 for his charity, the Young Scientist Cancer Research Fund.
Cardoz, who lost his father to cancer, dedicated last night’s win to his family. “Winning today means a lot to me and my family,” he said. “Because my family has always sacrificed our family life for me to do what I do.”
