Oprah Winfrey has seemingly done it all and yet, she still has a dream, that one day O.J. Simpson will confess – to her.

Apparently, Oprah feels this would be the ultimate TV coup – not just an interview with the wayward football great, but his admission that he did indeed murder his wife, Nicole, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in June 1994. He was famously acquitted in that case, but is now serving a minimum nine-year sentence on an armed robbery conviction in Nevada.

Oprah revealed her dream of this ultimate “get” Thursday in Chicago, where her long-running afternoon talk show ended its storied 25-year run last month. She was a featured speaker at the annual convention of the National Cable Television Association – the cable industry’s biggest yearly gathering.

“I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” Winfrey told the cable-convention attendees – her peers now that she has staked her future on OWN, her own cable channel. “And I am going to make that happen, people . . . I don’t just want the interview — I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”

There’s no way of knowing how O.J. feels about the prospect of confessing to Oprah Winfrey, if indeed he even has access to The Hollywood Reporter and other news sources reporting what Oprah said.

But Oprah seemed to be trying to make a larger point with her revelation of this “dream” interview with O.J. She was trying to get the point across to the cable industry that she’s still ambitious and aiming high as she strives to make OWN a success, even though the road has been bumpy for the channel ever since it launched on New Year’s Day. Ratings have fallen short and management turmoil led to the exit of the channel’s CEO, Christina Norman, in early May.

Now after taking a few weeks off after ending “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Oprah said she’s back working full time on OWN. “This really is the moment I’ve been waiting for,” she said, according to THR. “I have the ability to commit my full energy.”

“I have committed everything I have to this cable network, and I wouldn’t bet against me,” she reportedly said.
