“Brothers and Sisters” star Gilles Marini is keeping the family theme going on his acting resume. The former “DWTS” hunk has signed on for a pivotal role on the new ABC Family hit “Switched at Birth,” reports TV Guide.
The series centers around two teenagers from very different backgrounds, privileged Bay (Vanessa Marano) and hearing-impaired Daphne (Katie Leclerc), who discover they were switched at birth and are living with the wrong families.
Marini will play Bay’s biological father, Angelo. Bay, who’s just learned she’s actually the daughter of single mother Regina (played by Constance Marie), will meet her birth father later this season. Lea Thompson and D.W. Moffett star as the other set of parents.
Marini begins shooting next week, according to TVG. His episode is the season finale, which airs Monday, Aug. 8.
The June 6 series premiere of “Switched at Birth” shattered records for ABC Family, ranking as the most-watched debut ever on the cable network with 3.3 million viewers.
