‘The Killing’ killed with critics and viewers when it debuted earlier this spring, and AMC has rewarded the drama with a second season. The series, which follows two detectives (Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman) as they investigate the murder of a Seattle teenager, premiered in April with 2.7 million total viewers. That made it the second highest-rated debut in AMC’s history. In announcing the decision, AMC’s senior vice president of original programming, Joel Stillerman credited writer/executive producer Veena Sud and her cast and crew for showing “how much room there is to elevate the crime drama with this series.”

There’s no word on yet on which, if any, cast members will return for season two, particularly since season one doesn’t even wrap up until this Sunday, June 19. The series, based on a Danish drama, is unique in that every one of the 11 episodes so far has covered one day in the murder investigation. For those who haven’t prepared for the upcoming finale, it’s definitely worth checking out this penultimate episode from last Sunday.
