The producers of ‘CSI’ suddenly have a missing person case to solve. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Laurence Fishburne, who came to the show two and a half years ago to replace William Peterson, is leaving to return to his feature film career. His arrival on the series had been hailed by producers as a major coup, given his pedigree in movies, and there is no word yet on who might be brought in as his replacement. Insiders say they’re not surprised by Fishburne’s departure, and the move may explain why the season finale last month tried to wrap up an extended story arc involving his character, Dr. Raymond Langston, and serial killer Nate Haskell (Bill Irwin).
