Viewers are used to doctor drama at Seattle Grace, but McDreamy fans may need a medic.

There’s been speculation for more than a year that Dr. Derek Shepherd’s days are numbered on “Grey’s Anatomy” and now Patrick Dempsey himself says it’s so!

In a new interview with Italian Vanity Fair, Dempsey confirmed his plans to leave the show, saying the upcoming eighth season will be his last.

“It’s gonna be my last,” Dempsey tells the magazine. “I do not know what’s going to happen to the other characters, but for me it’s done.”

Could it really be the end of Mer-Der? Could be, especially since his on-screen wife could follow his lead — Ellen Pompeo is also reportedly interested in bowing out of the series.

Dempsey, who has been with “Grey’s” since it premiered in 2005, will be at the end of his contract after the completion of Season 8 and apparently he has no plans to renew.

But right on cue, just hours after the story came out, a publicist for Dempsey issued a comment to EW, not exactly confirming or denying the quote.

“He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds,” the rep says.

Yeah, he’s so outta there….
