With Jay’s birthday as the backdrop, Wednesday’s “Modern Family’s” finale rewarded long-time viewers with a series of running jokes spanning the comedy’s past two seasons. Chocolate milk with salt and Phil’s faulty step aside, the most satisfying scene was watching the raw footage from the Dunphy kids’ video tribute.
