XFINITY On Demand: Celebrating 20 Billion Views

by | May 25, 2011 at 1:12 PM | TV News, Xfinity On Demand

Eight years ago, long before anyone coined the term “time-shifting” to describe a viewing habit now acknowledged as the norm, Comcast launched On Demand with 740 movies, music videos, cartoons and other choices.

The idea was to give customers the option of watching what they wanted on their own schedule. Guess what?

It took off. In fact, we just announced that customers have now watched 20 billion shows, movies, and videos on XFINITY On Demand since its inception in 2003 (that year there were 200 million views).

To celebrate the milestone, we created the Xfinity On Demand Awards honoring the top-performing movies, TV series and music artists. The #1 movie was “The Hangover“. The most-viewed TV series was “South Park“. And tops in music was Beyonce. A more complete list of the most popular in each category is below.

Since these are your favorites, we’re putting many of these winning films and artists on XFINITY ON Demand under the Top Picks 20 Billion folder.

In addition, you can watch more than 60,000 TV shows, movies, and music videos on XFINITY On Demand and online at xfinityTV.com. But we caution you: don’t try to watch all at once.
