As if there weren’t enough shake-ups in TV land lately, here’s a prime-time blindside we didn’t see coming:

Lisa Edelstein is checking out of “House” after seven seasons, reports Deadline.com.

The actress, who plays Hugh Laurie’s leading lady Cuddy, has opted not to return to Princeton-Plainsboro next year.

Edelstein, whose contract expires next month, is reportedly among the cast members asked to take a pay cut, and she is said to be walking away from a still significant salary offer of $2 million. Cast members Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson are still on board, along with Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps, who recently re-signed their deals; only Jesse Spencer, who plays Chase, has yet to renew his contract.

It’s too soon to say what this means for “Huddy” fans or how her character will exit (or if it’s a negotiating tactic?) … but let the speculation begin!

The award-winning drama was recently renewed for its eighth and likely final season.
