This slightly-under-the-radar all season couple couldn’t survive the scoring curse where one of the bottom three are sent home week after week on “Dancing with the Stars.”
This week’s lowest scores went to Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff with a disappointing 46 out of 60 points, followed by Romeo and Chelsie Hightower with 52 points, and Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy landed in the middle of the pack with 53 points.
So who went home this week just one week before the semi-finals?
The couple knocked out of the competition … Romeo and Chelsie Hightower. Ralph and Karina were also in the bottom two but were saved by viewer votes, and they dance off to the semi-finals along with Hines Ward and Kym Johnson, Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas.
See How the Elimination Went Down:
“You know, I’m surprised … that was one of my best dances last night but at the same time I’m not surprised … anyone can go at any time,” said Romeo, to a standing ovation from the crowd and judges. “This show has changed my life already. I didn’t dance at my own prom. I turned down a lot of movies because I was terrified of dancing. I think it only bettered my future. I want to show kids don’t be afraid to try. Fall on your face a few times and get back up.”
After the show, we caught up with Romeo and Chelsie and the rapper-actor said, “I feel good. “If this was last week, my head would be down. It’s one of those things [if] you go out with a bang, you have no regrets. I gave it 110% yesterday.”

Other highlights of the night…
Sex on a Stick Is Back: Finally, a funny “Dance Center.” The best moment was when Jerry Rice stirred up a sex pot with his face on a stick – (a spoof of Maks’ “I’m like sex on a stick” bit). Second best moment was the montage of Romeo saying he’s doing it “for the kids” and Kenny Mayne referring to “fatty” Romeo’s six-pack abs as rolls of fat due to too many cookies. Funny stuff.
Adele! The Grammy Award-winning singer had vocal problems and was slated to perform two songs, but only sang her hit “Rolling in the Deep.” Instead, Australian singer Delta Goodrem filled in for one of the performance spots with “Dancing” alum Michael Bolton. She had less than an hour to rehearse her second number, the classic female anthem “Natural Woman” that Adele was supposed to sing. Adele = amazing. Delta = boring.
Here’s a reminder of how the Final Four fared this week:
Chelsea & Mark: 29 + 26 = 55
Hines & Kym: 28 + 26 = 54
Kirstie & Maks: 28 + 25 = 53
Romeo & Chelsie: 27 + 25 = 52
Ralph & Karina: 25 + 21 = 46
