After an emotionally difficult few years, Shania Twain is back. The five-time Grammy-winning singer has a new reality show (on Oprah’s channel), a new book (aptly titled, From This Moment On) and a new husband (businessman Frederic Thiebaud, who happens to be the ex of the woman who ended Twain’s marriage).
Twain’s troubles began when her 14-year marriage to her producer Mutt Lange ended in 2008 after he (allegedly) had an affair with one of Shania’s friends.
“Shocked” by the “devastating” double betrayal, Twain says she became “an emotional mess.” Even before her personal life began to unravel, Twain admits she had become paralyzed by the pressures of the music world and stopped performing in July 2004.
Shania Twain Reveals What She “Learned” from Her Ordeal:
Now on the comeback trail, Twain explains why she went through it all again while detailing the heartbreak in her new memoir. “It was therapeutic … healing to put it down on paper, it helped me crawl out of my hole of depression that I was in since my separation and divorce,” Twain said. “What’s scary is … sharing it. It’s not like me to do that.”
She opened up this week in a new interview on “The Today Show” and also speaks candidly about her struggles in her reality show, “Why Not? with Shania Twain,” which premieres Sunday, May 8 at 11 p.m./EST on OWN.
