ABC released the first official cast photo for its remake of “Charlie’s Angels” on Thursday.
The new version – sure to be a lock for a fall pilot pick-up – stars Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh and Rachael Taylor as the new angels, taking over the roles originated by Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson in the seventies P.I. show.
Also in the updated cast are Ramon Rodriguez, who takes on the role of Bosley, while Robert Wagner inherits the honor of being the mysterious voice of the ladies’ boss Charlie – a role famously voiced by the late John Forsythe.
Whether this “Charlie’s Angels” remake goes the way of the revamped “Hawaii Five-O” (a hit) or the rebooted “Bionic Woman” (a flop) is too soon to tell, but the new “Angels” sure are eye-catching (even if their outfits are suspect – who’s kicking butt in a cocktail dress and high heels?).
The modern TV series is executive produced by Drew Barrymore, who starred in and produced the blockbuster “Charlie’s Angels” movies from 2000 and 2003.
