Business news superstar Erin Burnett appears poised to jump ship from CNBC to CNN, where she’ll reportedly get a chance to broaden her horizons from strictly business to general news.

Burnett, 35, is a major presence on CNBC, where she co-anchors “Squawk on the Street” and hosts “Street Signs.” She’s also headlined a number of original documentaries on CNBC and appears on NBC News programs such as “Meet the Press,” “Today,” “Nightly News” and MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” She’s even appeared on “The Apprentice.”

However, according to this New York Times story, she’s about to sign a three-year contract with CNN that will allow her to become a general-news anchor in a time slot that has yet to be determined.

She’s apparently become such a hot commodity that she was also negotiating with ABC and CBS for possible jobs there, the Times story said.

Neither CNBC nor CNN would comment on the story.
