It couldn’t be a better time for Paris Hilton to let us inside her world in her new reality show, “The World According to Paris.”
There’s the tabloid drama of aunts Kim and Kyle Richards on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and the drama between good friend and neighbor Brooke Mueller and her ex-husband Charlie Sheen, all of which has been captured by cameras for the socialite’s new Oxygen reality show.
“The whole family is on the show,” Paris Hilton told reporters Friday at NBC’s press day to promote the new series. “This show is not like anything I’ve ever done… Now people will get to see my real world, my friends, my relationships, my business and everything that goes on. It’s a really behind-the-scenes look at my life.”
The cameras were indeed rolling when Mueller and Sheen’s relationship combusted. “It’s all on the show,” Paris reveals. Mom Kathy Hilton added, “We had family day at our house, everybody is there. Breakfast you stop by, dinner, BBQs, it’s great. So [Brooke's] a part of that and the twins are. It’s wonderful.”
As for the “Housewives” season finale blowout fight between Kathy’s sisters, Kim and Kyle, Kathy said it was difficult to watch. “Absolutely. For me to say that it wasn’t would be lying to you. But I’m really proud. They’re getting through everything. Yes, Paris and I watched it, and we both walked out kind of crying and then we regrouped and went back,” said Kathy.
Kathy also revealed that she has tried to help in the healing process, but as to the status of Kim and Kyle’s relationship, she said, “I think you’re going to have to wait and watch the show.” Paris nodded and said, “We’re such a close family.”
Along with Mueller, the Hilton clan, and the Richards, “The World According to Paris” will also show Paris’ boyfriend, Cy Waits, who had to be convinced by Kathy to do the show; nightlife gal pal Allison Melnick; and former Fred Durst girlfriend and Playboy model Jennifer Rovero, who – get this – is billed as Paris’ full-time photographer. Yes, full-time photographer.
From the sizzle reel for the show, we also see the following: red carpets, furry friends, sky diving, shot-taking, pink panties, lavish homes, shopping, girlfriends, tears, sober companions, photographers, and more.
Though “The World According to Paris” is a family-oriented show, comparisons to the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” franchise shouldn’t be made. “We’ve known them for a long time … we adore them and I think we are a completely different show,” said Kathy. “And I think there’s room for everybody.”
Paris agreed: “I wish them the best. I think that they have a great show. I wish everyone success. It’s great for everyone. We’ve been family friends since we were little girls, so I love them and I wish them the best.”
Paris’ final words on the show: “The show is super, super hot!”
“The World According to Paris” debuts on Oxygen on June 1 at 10 p.m.
