Jessica Lange has signed on to star in the upcoming FX drama “American Horror Story,” Deadline.com reports.
Lange will appear opposite “Friday Night Lights” actress Connie Britton, previously cast. Details of the show’s premise are few, but according to Deadline, Britton plays the beautiful wife of a sensitive therapist (yet to be cast), with Lange on board as the couple’s nosy neighbor.
The series comes from creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
It marks a return to darker territory for Murphy, who broke basic-cable ground with the outrageous “Nip/Tuck,” and then hit a high note with the Fox musical “Glee.” Murphy is set to direct the pilot episode of “Horror Story.”
It’s the first television series for two-time Oscar winner Lange, who last appeared on the small screen in HBO’s miniseries, “Grey Gardens” in 2009.
