Rosie O’Donnell believes “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts is to blame – at least partially – for Chris Brown’s hair-raising (and chair-throwing) temper tantrum in the “GMA” studios following an interview with Roberts last month.

Reading about what O’Donnell said of the incident – in which Brown threw a chair and broke a plate-glass window overlooking New York’s Times Square – you would think Roberts handed Brown the chair and invited him to smash something. In fact, all Roberts did was gently ask Brown about how he’s doing today, two years after he made headlines for another fit of temper – the time he beat up his girlfriend, Rihanna.

Chris Brown Goes into Violent Rage at “GMA,” Smashes Window

“I felt mildly angry at Robin Roberts,” Rosie said on her Sirius/XM radio show last week, in a conversation with her executive producer, Janette Barber, according to this account on The Hollywood Reporter’s Web site. “I felt like writing her and going: ‘Can you take a look at this again and see if maybe you find – in any way – your responsibility in this?’ ”

Rosie said she can identify with Brown’s anger. “Part of me wanted to take a chair and throw it through the window at ‘The View’ after all that happened,” Rosie said, alluding to her stormy single season on the daytime chat show. The fact is, however, Rosie didn’t throw any chairs nor, as far as anyone can remember, break any windows. Somehow she restrained herself from destroying property and, more importantly, endangering anyone else’s safety.

Rosie then went on to attribute the treatment of Brown to some kind of racism on Roberts’ part, although Roberts is also African-American. Mediaite.com got into the racial aspects of Rosie’s rant with this analysis.

Chris Brown apologizes for “GMA” Meltdown

You know who’s reaction would be interesting here? Oprah Winfrey’s, because Rosie is preparing to host a very high-profile talk show on Oprah’s OWN cable channel starting next fall. And Oprah is so supportive of Rosie that Rosie will use Oprah’s own studio in Chicago for the show.

Oprah and Rosie are said to have “an excellent relationship,” according to the president of Oprah’s company, Harpo, who’s quoted in this story.

However, in the same story, Oprah is quoted in a Fortune magazine story from last fall in which she talked about going to New York to visit O’Donnell. “Rosie said, ‘I know you’re here to assess how crazy I am’.” Oprah said. “ ‘Basically, yes. I’m doing a crazy check’,” Oprah told her. The Fortune article even has Oprah admitting that she told Rosie “she had better behave on OWN,” and then instructed her, “If you have an issue that’s causing a problem, speak to me, woman to woman, so that it doesn’t become a worldwide issue.”

Seems like Oprah might think about making another “crazy check” following this latest outburst.
