Here at xfinityTV.com, we love our TV. But you may not be aware that we love a good-natured joke as well! We want to help prepare you for April Fools’ Day, so keep reading to see our suggestions on how you can pull some tomfoolery in your house this April 1st. BE WARNED: Hardcore television fans might not appreciate these pranks. Carry out the following at your own risk!

“Remote-Remote Control”
Imagine the scene: After finishing family Friday dinner, Mom heads to the living room to relax on the couch and watch TV. She is taken back to her childhood watching some vintage “I Love Lucy“, chuckling to herself as the scheming redhead is trying to pull off another quick one. Just as Ms. Ricardo starts to tearfully explain her latest flub, Lucy and Desi are replaced with Homer and Marge as “The Simpsons” appear on her screen! As your mother frantically looks to see which smart aleck has the remote, she realizes no one is in the room. What she does not realize is that you are on the computer, stealthily changing channels from our TV Grid. Poor Mom, she’ll have to try and remember what went down (even though she’s seen this episode roughly 300 times).
Pull the Prank: You can use your computer, iPad/iPhone or Android to change the channels on your Motorola cable boxes.
Computer Users- Go to our TV Listings Tab and click on the show you want, which will bring up additional options. Click the button that says “Watch on TV” and watch in amusement as Mom tries to figure out what happened.
iPad/iPhone/Android Users- Open your XFINITY TV app, and go to TV listings. Scroll through the channels to find the show you want, select it to bring up the details screen, then hit the “Watch on TV” button. Enjoy the entertainment!

“Devilish DVR”:
Imagine the scene: Your roommate had evening classes Thursday night, and knew she was going to miss “Jersey Shore“. Arriving home from work the next day, she pops in an oh-so-gourmet microwave meal, pours a glass of wine, and gets ready to enjoy some quality Sammi and Ronnie time. She plops on the couch, goes to the DVR, and… WHAT?? A DVR full of “Dora the Explorer“?! How is she supposed to get her fill of GTL-ing juice-heads now? Oh, the humanity!
Editor’s note: Should you need redemption from this awful act, you can always remind them they can watch the show on xfinityTV.com!
Pull the Prank: You can use your computer, iPad/iPhone or Android to change the channels on your Motorola cable boxes.
Computer Users- Search xfinityTV.com for a show at the opposite spectrum from your roommate’s favorites. (She loves “Desperate Housewives“? Try “Man Vs. Wild.” Can’t miss “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno“? Record “The Late Show with David Letterman.” When you go to the show page, you will see a TV Listings tab under the picture- which lists all upcoming airings of the shows, with a “Record” button. Now fill up that DVR!
iPad/iPhone/Android users- Open your XFINITY TV app, and go to TV listings. Scroll through the channels to find the show you want, select it to bring up the details screen, then hit the “Record” button. So simple a tool that can be used for good or evil. This would be the day to use it for humorous evil.

“Trickery On Demand” (note- you will need the cable box remote for this one):
Imagine the scene: Hubby and his buddies have Friday night poker night, and this week it is at your house. They always have some macho-flick on during the card game, and this time it’s “Goodfellas“. So you can imagine their surprise when suddenly their gangsters are gone and “Little Women” appear in their place! As the cards start flying and beer starts spilling, your husband cowers in embarrassment as he scrambles to try and find the remote. How can he face his cigar-gnawing friends again? Desperately trying to avoid earning the nick-name “Little Lady”, he yanks the TV plug out of the wall.
Pull the Prank: You can use your computer, iPad/iPhone or Android to change the channels on your Motorola cable boxes.
Computer Users- Go to our On Demand tab and select the “Movies” sub-navigation option. We have lots of filters so you can hone in on the kind of movie you need to sabotage your unsuspecting victim (be sure to filter by “Free Only”- good jokes don’t have to cost money). Man-cave party? Go for a girly romance. Hot date movie night for your teenager? A family friendly favorite, perhaps “Swan Princess” should do nicely. Click on your selection to bring up additional options, and click on “Watch ON”. Hit “Watch” with your silver remote and let the sparks fly (or fade, whichever you are going for).
iPad/iPhone/Android users- Open your XFINITY TV app, and go to On Demand. Select TV or Movies, and use the filter in the top right corner to narrow down your results (filter by Free if you want to avoid costs for your prank). Scroll through your results, and select your title. Click “Watch ON”, then hit “Watch” with your silver remote and enjoy the reactions.
