The Phoenix Coyotes and Dallas Stars each dropped their most recent games, but one team will likely be more desperate to bounce back Tuesday night. As they try to climb back into playoff position, the Stars will attempt to avoid a damaging fourth consecutive loss when they visit the short-handed Coyotes, who look to remain fourth in the Western Conference.

Phoenix (41-25-11) fell 4-1 to San Jose on Saturday after going 8-1-1 in its previous 10 games. After practice Monday, Coyotes coach Dave Tippett had put that loss behind and was focused on the upcoming matchup. Tippett’s club is six points ahead of ninth-place Calgary and seven up on Dallas in 10th.

The Stars, meanwhile, were trying to stay positive following a 4-2 defeat at fellow playoff contender Nashville on Saturday. Brenden Morrow scored the tying goal in the second period, but Dallas was blanked over the final 35:53.
