“Desperate Housewives” Bree Van Der Kamp (Marcia Cross) recently kissed her younger blue collar boyfriend Keith (Brian Austin Green) goodbye. But she will not be lonely for long. According to Deadline, the deliciously named Jonathan Cake has been cast as her new love interest, Aaron is described as a “sexy, college-educated police detective with strong family values.” Bree has been involved with numerous men, including her repressed first husband Rex (Steven Culp) and her criminal, paraplegic second husband Orson (Kyle MacLauchlan). Several have ended up dead. Perhaps Aaron, who from the description shares Bree’s world view, will turn out to be her Mr. Right.
Aaron will appear for four episodes this season, arriving on Wisteria Lane to investigate the neighborhood’s latest suburban mystery, and be a series regular in the 2011-2012 season — assuming there is another season of the long-running primetime soap. ABC is still negotiating new contracts with the housewives, though there is no reason to believe that they will be unable to reach a deal.
The British Cake should be familiar to American audiences because of his numerous guest starring appearances on U.S. shows including “Chuck”, “Law & Order” and, most recently “Off the Map.”
