When it comes to matters of the heart, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality star Kandi Burruss just can’t get a break.
Still suffering from the tragic death of her former fiancee A.J. Jewell, which occurred just two years prior, Kandi is now dealing with another blow: A.J.’s 15 year-old daughter, Asheley Jewell, is clinging to life after being shot in the head from a road rage incident last Saturday night, reports the UK’s Daily Mail.
Accompanied by friends, the teenager was riding along Old National Highway in Atlanta when the incident occurred.
Hear Kandi Explain Her Personal Life:
“My heart feels heavy today. I have my daughter and her friends so I’m trying to keep smiling but I’m worried about someone else I care about,” tweeted Kandi, who was close to Asheley and A.J.’s other daughters.
Kandi and A.J., who was frequently seen on “Real Housewives,” broke-up shortly after the first season ended. Rumor has it that her family wasn’t happy about A.J.’s past—he fathered six children with various women.
Four months after their split, A.J. was killed during a fight at a local strip club. Although prosecutors initially believed his death was a homicide, they dropped the charges to manslaughter once an autopsy report proved that he died of complications arising from his sickle cell anemia.
Kandi was given custody of his 12 year-old twin daughters and expressed her sorrow on her blog at the time of his death. “I hate to question God, but don’t you hate it when you feel like somebody has been taken away too soon?” she wrote. “I just feel like A.J. had so much more living to do.”
