Four Lions

Marking the directorial debut of renowned UK satirist Chris Morris and co-written with Sam Bain (Peep Show) and Oscar nominee Jesse Armstrong (In The Loop), the acclaimed film ‘Four Lions‘ was heralded as one of the funniest and boldest comedies of the year, appearing on major year end Top Ten lists. Writer-director Chris Morris based the idea of a group of inept suicide bombers for Four Lions on extensive research: “These cells have the same group dynamics as bachelor parties and five-a-side basketball teams. Plans are upset by arguments, egos, testosterone and idiocy. Do the basic flaws in human nature take a polite sidestep around a jihadi cell? No.” said Morris. ‘Four Lions’ takes us on a journey with a “home grown” cell and satirizes all sides of the war on terror through their farcical story. The film has been lauded as “laugh-out-loud funny” and “wickedly accurate.” While hugely entertaining, it draws from what experts call “the bunch of guys theory” and demonstrates that extremists through their shortcomings are all too human. Judge John Deed

In addition to justice, Deed is also faced with the challenge of finding the root of his problem with women. He is a confirmed womanizer, and finds himself in court with his ex-wife and sometime lover Jo Mills. Can therapy help the judge deal with his attitude towards women? A Film Unfinished

At the end of WWII, 60 minutes of raw film, having sat undisturbed in an East German archive, was discovered. Shot by Nazis in Warsaw in May 1942 and labeled simply “Ghetto,” this footage quickly became a resource for historians seeking an authentic record of the Warsaw Ghetto. However, the later discovery of a long-missing reel, including multiple takes and cameramen staging scenes, complicated earlier readings of the footage. ‘A Film Unfinished‘ presents the raw footage in its entirety, carefully noting fictionalized sequences (including a staged dinner party) falsely showing “the good life” enjoyed by Jewish urbanites, and probing deep into the making of the now-infamous Nazi propaganda film.
