We often hear contestants on “Dancing with the Stars,” or really any competition reality show really, claim they are just here to have a good time and it’s not about winning, it’s about the journey.
Well, that’s BS for prizefighter Sugar Ray Leonard. He is in it for the mirror ball trophy, and makes no bones about it. “I’m in it to win it, baby. I want the damn trophy. I’m not here to dress up in those tight pants,” Leonard told us at the “DWTS” cast reveal event this week.
Speaking of those tight pants, how does he feel about going from baggy boxing shorts to skintight spandex? “I can hold my own,” he laughs. “I think I can fill them up!”

Leonard’s also confident his boxing skills will translate to the dance floor. “The balance, them movement, I truly believe it’s mental, it’s psychological, it’s spiritual. That’s how I function. When I do things, I almost choreograph in my head and I try to just maintain composure. When I was boxing back in the day, I could control my heart rate. Instead of getting all freaked out, I would come down,” he said.
