“I hope people dig it, and if they don’t they don’t,” said Matthew Morrison just before world premiering his debut single “Summer Rain” on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.” After, the “Glee” star – a.k.a. Will Schuster – said he was ecstatic and relieved now that the song was “out in the world,” he said. Morrison co-wrote the laid-back ukulele-driven ditty, which is officially launched on March 14, with Claude Kelly and the Norwegian production duo Espionage. “I thought to be taken really as an artist, I had to write my own songs, and what’s what I did,” he told Ryan Seacrest. After a set of live performances on “The Tonight Show” and “The Ellen DeGEneres Show” in early April, Morrison plans to spend his summer break touring Europe and the U.S. – his first solo show ever. “I’m a little nervous about singing 18 songs in a row,” he said. He shouldn’t be. Early reaction to the song from fans? “Amazing,” wrote one on Seacrest’s website. “Matt just proved with this song that he’ll be a huge hit,” said another.
