“O Captain! My Captain!”

“Dead Poets Society” combined two key ingredients that made it a hit among the teen girl demo. Walt Whitman poetry and handsome prep school boys.

When I watched the film at 13 years old, it wasn’t only the day that I wanted to seize. More than anything, it highly sensitive and misunderstood Todd Anderson, played by Ethan Hawke, who made my heart melt  and kicked off a life-long crush.

Robin Williams brings the Academy Award-winning screenplay to life and his line “Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” was voted as the 95th greatest movie quote by the American Film Institute.

You can watch this Oscar-winning classic online right now.
