It’s a girl!
Former “Bachelor” contestant Melissa Rycroft Strickland and her husband Tye Strickland welcomed a daughter, Ava Grace Strickland, on Wednesday, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.
Born in Dallas and weighing 6 lbs., and 13 oz., the tot is the first child for the couple, who wed in Mexico in December 2009.
“Our lives have changed so much in the last two years and today we’ve been blessed with the best change ever, our beautiful baby girl,” Rycroft, 27, said in a statement.
Rycroft revealed the gender of the baby while taping an episode of “The Talk” in October. The show’s hosts presented her with an array of blue and pink gifts and she chose a color. “Of the gifts in my lap, I think I am going to take home the pink!”
She and Strickland, an insurance agent, dated on and off for two years, but rekindled their romance after her very public split from Bachelor star Jason Mesnick. He later went on to marry Bachelor runner-up Molly Malaney. She and Strickland were engaged just four months after her breakup with Mesnick. Rycroft later said parting ways with Mesnick was “one of the best things that ever happened to me in my life.”
