Despite our wise suggestions, Laura Prepon has signed on to star as a 20-something Chelsea Handler in the upcoming NBC pilot based on Handler’s bestselling boozy memoir, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.

Deadline reports the multi-camera comedy will focus on a character named Chelsea Hanson (Prepon), “a fresh-faced single cocktail waitress highly opinionated and open about her love to drink and have sex.”

At 30, Prepon might seem like an odd choice to play a young Chelsea. Handler herself is only 35. But the two share similar roots. Prepon certainly proved her knack for comedy as the witty Donna Pinciotti on “That ’70s Show,” and like the “Chelsea Lately” host, Prepon is half-Jewish, hails from New Jersey,  and is the youngest of five children (Handler is the youngest of six).
