Thursday night’s 90-minute series premiere of A&E’s “Beyond Scared Straight” scored record-breaking ratings for the network, with 3.2 million viewers tuning in to watch at-risk teens get the reality check of a lifetime by spending one day in intensive prison sessions.

“We could not be more proud to have undertaken this groundbreaking series and the audience response is extremely rewarding,”  Bob DeBitetto, A&E’s president and general manager wrote via press release. “Beyond Scared Straight truly exemplifies our unique brand of highly engaging programming with a focus on excellent storytelling and first-class auspices.”

This has been quite a week for A&E. A series-high 2.8 million viewers tuned in to Wednesday’s episode of “Storage Wars,” while Monday’s season finale of “Hoarders” attracted 3 million.

Is something in the ratings water this week? Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker,” CBS’s “NCIS,” Monday’s BCS game, and the BET premiere of “The Game” all shattered ratings records. Could the fact that most of the country has been blanketed in snow be a factor? What did you think of the premiere of “Beyond Scared Straight?” Tell us below!
