After tackling drug addiction, sex addiction and abortion in series and specials, Dr. Drew Pinsky is heading to daytime.
The CW announced Tuesday that it will introduce the new daily half-hour talk “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers,” beginning in the fall, Broadcasting & Cable reported.
The show is designed for self-help in a daytime format, said Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, who will serve as an executive producer of the series.
“This is a more daytime focused show about personal transformation and real people stories,” she said. “We feel Drew is the answer man and this is the answer show. It will be a search engine for your life.”
The show was developed from the nationally syndicated newsmagazine “Extra,” of which Gregorisch-Dempsey is senior executive producer.
The CW will air two episodes of the show back-to-back from 3 to 4 p.m., although the second show will be a repeat. (Repeats of Tyra Bank’s defunct talk show currently air in the slot.)
“Lifechangers” will feature stories of people experiencing a difficulty in their lives, from addiction – in which “Dr. Drew” is board certified – to relationship problems. The guests are expected to be celebrities and medical experts in a panel format, who will take questions from the studio audience and via video chat.
“Lifechangers” is the second new show on the doctor’s resume. “Dr. Drew Pinsky” will premiere on HLN this spring.
