NEW YORK — Television personality Nancy O’Dell is doing a 2011 countdown as host of “New Year’s Eve Live” on Fox.

O’Dell has been practicing the countdown with her 3-year-old daughter as a counting exercise. She’ll anchor the Friday night special from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas with singer Brandy as a special correspondent.

Cameras in New York City will capture its annual ball drop in Times Square.

Plain White T’s, Travie McCoy and David Archuleta will perform.

Next year will be a busy one for O’Dell. She’s joining “Entertainment Tonight” and hosting “Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star” on Oprah Winfrey’s new network, launching Saturday.

“New Year’s Eve Live” airs live from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Eastern time on Fox. It will be tape-delayed in other time zones.
