Get ready to meet Bravo’s new gay ‘Househusbands.’
The rumors are true. Bravo is getting back into the gay game, as the New York Daily News reports that the next installment of the wildly successful “Real Housewives” franchise will indeed feature an all-gay guy cast.
Of course, Bravo made its name in gay programming when it brought “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” to the masses back in 2003. But it was the LOGO network who jumped on the gay housewives idea first with its show “The A-List: New York,” which debuted this summer and follows six gay and bisexual guys in the Big Apple.
The working title for Bravo’s new show was rumored to be ‘From the Bottom to the Top,’ but don’t expect the cheeky title to stick. Bravo’s Vice President of Original Programming and Development Andy Cohen recently Tweeted, “HEY EVERYBODY: Do you really think Bravo is doing a show called “From the Bottom to the Top”?!? We’re not.”
What is true, though, is the preliminary cast of six (with a possible seventh added) characters, a group of tight-knit men who call themselves “The Plastics.”
They are: book publicist Kenneth Gillett, Factory PR founder and fashion event publicist Mark Silver, designer Jordan Carlyle, model Christopher Fawcett, style showroom owner Joey Giuntoli, and British designer Kristopher Haigh.
However, before we get too excited, the Daily News’ sources say the show is only in the initial stages of pre-production, has not been officially green lit yet, and wouldn’t shoot any earlier than early 2011.
