Maybe that second job wasn’t such a good idea after all. Rebecca Budig, whose day job is playing Greenlee Smyth on ‘All My Children,’ didn’t think moonlighting on ‘Skating with the Stars‘ would be this hard, but it is.

“I’m working 12-hour days [on 'All My Children'], then going to skate for three hours,” she told reporters after a ‘Skating with the Stars’ taping. “It’s hard. But I’m doing it because this is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We generally skate for three hours, then go to the dance studio for an hour, so it’s about a four-hour day. I might go into ‘AMC’ at 6 a.m., leave at 5:30 p.m., and I get to the rink at 6:45 p.m. and skated to 9:30 p.m.”

Oddly, even though both shows air on ABC, the actress isn’t catching any breaks. Case in point: “I have to be at work at 6:45 [a.m.],” she told us Monday night, after making it through ‘Skating’ eliminations one more week and scoring in the top two, just behind Olympic skier Jonny Moseley. “Well, really, it was supposed to be 6:15. I begged them to make it 6:45.”

Wait, begged? Don’t the producers realize both shows are on the same network and it’s good for publicity?

“I don’t think they care. They don’t care. Yeah, they don’t care. They don’t,” Budig said. “They actually really don’t, um, because I signed up for it and I guess they just feel like, I mean, they warned me. They said, ‘You’re gonna be busy.’ And I’m like okay. I really wanted to skate. I really wanted to do this.”

So her bosses don’t take to moonlighting very well? “No. Not really. They are making it very difficult,” she said.

Guess that means they won’t be writing figure skating into an ‘AMC’ script. “No. I wish!” she said, before adding, “I’m not regretting it. This is a dream of mine, so I’m really excited that I’ve been able to do this.”

Luckily, her ‘AMC’ costar Cameron Mathison (who plays Ryan Lavery) appeared on Season 5 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and gave her a little bit of advice.

“He said sleep. Sleep whenever you can. Sleep on the floor. Sleep on the bench. Sleep in your dressing room. Sleep when you can. So I’m taking his advice,” Budig said.
