TOP PICK:The Closer‘ (9pm on TNT) **Winter Premiere**

One of Brenda’s detectives is ambushed on the street, and the main clue to figuring out the motive behind the attack is a garbage bag containing more than $37,500. The investigation then turns into a race to clear the detective’s name over allegations of witness tampering. Guest star Mary McDonnell returns as Capt. Sharon Raydor.

SEASON PREMIERE:The Sing-Off‘ (8pm ET on NBC)

Ten a capella groups from around the country step onto “The Sing-Off” stage for the first time to compete for the ultimate prize, a recording contract and $100,000. Nick Lachey hosts while the groups come together as one to sing Kiki Dee’s “I’ve Got the Music in Me” in addition to individual performances of the groups’ choice. Celebrity judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Nicole Scherzinger will decide which two groups won’t make the cut.

Joe is determined to get himself back in good shape on the golf course, but having to get up at the crack of dawn to practice is starting to wear on him. Owen is now manager of his father’s auto dealership, but his decision to hire Terry is starting to look like a bad move. It turns out Terry’s acting skills aren’t helping him succeed in selling any cars. He’s also not exactly cut out for a 9-to-5 job.
