“We have America’s Next Top Model,” declared Tyra Banks. “She has a prize that every single model and every single agency from Tokyo to London to Paris to New York wants—and they want it badly. We’ve reached a decision.”

[Drum roll] And the ‘Top Model’ crown goes to…Ann Ward! Geeks of America rejoiced everywhere as the gentle giant trembled with tears of joy and disbelief. (Like they say, geeks always win in the end!)

Despite Chelsey’s confidence and professionalism, the 6’2” Amazonian from Texas won over the judges by her stunning photos and malleability. During deliberation, Judge Andre Léon Talley described Ann as “coltish” and the “new sexy,” while Nigel Barker believed she had “the strongest ability to be a star.”

So what did Ann win? A contract with IMG Models, a cover and spread in Beauty in Vogue, a spread in Italian Vogue, an appearance on Italian Vogue’s site, vogue.it, and a $100K contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics.

If that doesn’t boost a girl’s self-confidence, we don’t know what will.

Are you happy that Ann won?
