Talk show host Nate Berkus was hospitalized Tuesday after feeling ill during an appearance on ‘The Today Show.’ He is resting comfortably after undergoing surgery for an appendicitis.

“He was on the Today show this morning and he wasn’t feeling well,” a rep tells People. “He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis.”

“He was in a lot of pain,” the spokesperson added. “I don’t think people realized how ill he was.”

The 39-year-old designer had to postpone two tapings of his daytime program, ‘The Nate Berkus Show,’ but is expected to return to work next week.
