‘Vampire Diaries‘ fans: There are only six more days until your craving for a new episode will be satiated. This two week break has been agony. Doesn’t the CW realize that a Thanksgiving day episode would have been the perfect apres turkey treat? Fortunately, the network has released an extended preview for the December 2 episode, “The Sacrifice.”
Although the promo editors are masters at misleading the audience, these are the facts that can be divined: Stefan and Damon have a plan to strip the moonstone of its powers, which would save her from becoming a human sacrifice to ultra-evil, original vampire Klaus, who longs to remove the curse that prevents vampires from going out in the sun. (You would think it would be easier to just conscript a witch to make hundreds of the rings that allow the Salvatores and Caroline to daywalk.) Elena does not approve of the plan because it will “risk everyone [she] loves.” So, she comes up with a plan of her own — which may be playing out concurrently to what the Salvatore brothers have in store.
The Bonnie and Jeremy relationship heats up. She touches his lips with her fingers, which is almost a kiss. There is no sign of Bonnie’s other love interest, Devon from ‘The Young & the Restless,‘ the evil warlock. Jeremy also mans up, and goes to visit Katherine in the tomb, presumably for moonstone-related reasons. If she comes onto him, it’s going to be more than a little creepy.
Elena catches a naked Alaric in bed with Jenna. So, at least Jenna’s quality of life is improving. Hooray for gratuitous male nudity!
Someone ends up with a knife in his chest – and it looks like Elena might be the one responsible. She’s “sending a message to Klaus.” I think it’s safe to assume the stab-ee is a vampire.
Matt? Tyler? Caroline? They are not in the preview. But the December 9th episode is called “By the Light of the Moon,” so Tyler will be getting his werewolf on soon.
At the end of the preview, Damon tells Elena, “Get your ass out the door before I throw you over my shoulder and carry you out myself.” The sexual tension aside, it looks like Elena has chosen to be Buffy rather than Bella, and is determined to control her own destiny, instead of leaving all the heavy lifting to the boys.
