B&B Practices What It Preaches

Kudos to ‘The Bold & The Beautiful.’ Not only does the current storyline abut Stephanie (Susan Flannery) battling cancer and attempting to help the homeless focus attention on the plight of residents of Los Angeles’ Skid Row, casting actual homeless people in supporting roles, but the show sponsored the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Union Rescue Mission that was featured on the show.

Saturday’s event served a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all of the trimmings to an estimated 3,500 people. Several B&B cast members volunteered to serve meals.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you which Forresters attended, because all of the published photos of the event focused on another celebrity volunteer, Paris Hilton.

It would be nice to see some recognition for the performers who are involved because they care, not because they are trying to rehabilitate their image after a drug bust. It’s a credit to the producers, cast and crew of B&B that the show did more than just shoot a few scenes on Skid Row to increase awareness, and is actively trying to make a difference in the community.
