‘Dancing With the Stars’ executive producer Conrad Green stands by the integrity of how the show tabulates viewer votes – this as talk of overhauling said process begins to swirl.

Even ‘Dancing’ pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy vented to E! Online that this season’s results have been “flawed” and “ridiculous since day one.”

Addressing one theory that mass “robo-voting” by supporters of Bristol Palin and/or her mother Sarah and/or the Tea Party is responsible for keeping the 20-year-old mom in the game longer than perhaps deserved, Green acknowledged to the New York Daily News, “It’s possible to register lots of email addresses, but the IP address identifies which computer sent it.”

If multiple online votes are flagged as being cast by the same computer, “we wipe [them] out,” Green says. “We have a number of security checks to identify people trying to multiple vote.”

Turning to the matter of some callers being unable to get through on the toll-free lines – as is said to have happened this past week in the Philadelphia area – Green said that with a show as popular as ‘DWTS,’ flooded phone systems are “the nature of the beast” and a rare glitch that “affects everyone equally.”

But as ABC and ‘DWTS’ producers go about publicly defending the integrity of viewer vote tabulation, rumors are swirling that Palin’s longevity with the competition may prompt a revisiting – if not significant overhaul – of the process.

“Not only was everyone stunned that Bristol will be in the finals,” an unidentified ‘DWTS’ staffer tells the Chicago Sun-Times, “[but] it made everyone realize the voting system really needs to be changed. This is going to lead to a reworking of the entire voting system… a restructuring to give the judges’ votes more weight. ”

What do you think, ‘Dancing’ fans? Should the judges’ votes be more heavily weighted in the scheme of things, or is “America’s voice” the important element in competition shows such as this and ‘American Idol’?
