Showtime has release a new extended trailer of Matt LeBlanc’s upcoming comedy ‘Episodes.’

The series stars a graying LeBlanc as “himself,” cast in an American-friendly version of a successful UK series. The premise is “What if instead of a hilarious comedy about a British boarding school with acclaimed actors we turn it into a hockey series starring Matt LeBlanc?”

Although ‘Episodes’ has been likened to other show within a show constructs like ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ executive producer Jeffrey Klarik assured us this character is nothing like the real Matt LeBlanc.  “This is a fantasy of what we assume Matt is like in real life,” he clarified.

The clip itself is heavily laced with Joey Tribbiani and ‘Friends‘ jabs.  Scenes show the 43-year-old lampooning everything from Joey’s catchphrase, “How you doin?” – to how long Ross and Rachel would have lasted if Rachel were a lesbian. Having not yet watched the pilot, it’s difficult to decipher whether this is the tone of the whole show, or just the way Showtime chose to edit this teaser. We’re holding out hope for the latter.
